Province mandates plebiscite on Calgary Olympic bid

The Alberta Government has made its contribution to Calgary’s 2026 Olympic bid conditional on a plebiscite.

The Olympic ideal is commendable, but the Olympic sized cost is not.

The guesstimated cost of the proposed Calgary Olympics per Calgary taxpayer is about $16,000; per Alberta taxpayer about $3,000.

Given that the governments of Calgary and Alberta have already maxed out their credit cards, hosting the Olympic Games is financial lunacy.

In the plebiscite, vote NO.
