This play is anti-racist.
It is critical (which unfortunately for many is by definition racist) of the system in which Canadian Indians live and what it does to them, but that is a challenge for change, to modernize.
The first step is personal responsibility, be responsible for your own success or failure. Do not use racism as a crutch.
The second step is tribal responsibility, eliminate the systemic discrimination perpetuated by the Indian Act. Cut the umbilical cord.
Sadly, because of the Indian Act, many of the obstacles to change of 100 years ago are perpetuated today. Tragically, if nothing is done today, those same obstacles and their consequences will persist 100 years from now.
